I got a 4 on my AP US History exam so I’m pretty much done with American history until, well, forever I guess, at least when it comes to school, but honestly even after all of the prep I did for the exam (by prep I mean taking the class, I didn’t really do much to prepare in the traditional studying sense, I’m not real big on that sort of thing) this video would have been my most useful study guide. I’m not even kidding. If I would have memorized this and a few more of the ways women contributed to the rise of America (note: there aren’t that many, certainly not enough to warrant a full essay on it) there’s no doubt in my mind I would have gotten a 5. I mean, you have to know what the things are that they reference, but still, this is the best and catchiest educationalish thing I’ve seen yet (except for maybe Hard ‘n Phirm’s song Pi). If you have any chance of being tested on US history at any point in the future, watch this and then bookmark it.
And, a quick plug to Jonathan Coulton (artist that did the above video). I’ve been listening to nothing but him for a couple days now. For samples of what he does, Re: Your Brains and Code Monkey. You won’t be disappointed.
